-What should I know about implants
      -Are implants right for me?
      -Can anyone have them?
      -What are implants made of?

-Implants are a wonderful option for replacing missing teeth. They are man-made cylinders that are surgically placed in the upper or lower jaw. They are made of titanium and other materials that are compatible with the human body. If you have healthy gums and bone that can support an implant, an implant is an ideal solution. Your dentist is the one who would determine if you are a candidate. Implant osseointegration and restoration is a three part process that takes three to six months. The dentist will refer you to a periodontist or an oral surgeon to have the implant placed and then you will return to the dentist for the abutment and crown that go on top of the implant.

-Endodontic Treatment
      -What is endodontic treatment?
-Can the doctor do a root canal or will I be referred out?
-Why do I need to have it done?

Endodontic treatment is the removal of the soft core (pulp) of your tooth. It can require 1 to 3 appointments. Unless there are complications with the root of the tooth, Dr Brett can do the root canal in our office. If the roots are calcified (blocked or compromised) we may send you to a specialist. If the diseased pulp is not removed, the tooth and surrounding tissue become infected. Severe pain and swelling may occur.

-How often should I be seeing the hygienist?

Our hygienist will determine how often you need to be seen. Most patients come every 6 months, but sometimes people who have periodontal issues are seen on 3 and 4 month recalls.

-What if I have an emergency?

The staff at Dublin Woods tries to get our patients in the same day as their emergency.  We x-ray, diagnose and take needed action to relieve patient of pain.  There is always an emergency number available when the office is closed

-What will happen at my first visit?

At your first visit a comprehensive exam will be given by the doctor, this includes, an evaluation and recording of patient’s dental and medical history, full exam of existing teeth, oral cancer screening and evaluation of periodontal conditions. The doctor will also do a prophylaxis (dental cleaning) and take any necessary x-rays. You should bring a list of current medications you are taking, your insurance card, I.D. and x-rays you may have from another office.

-What is the importance of x-rays?

X-rays are an important part of diagnosing your dental health. There are many conditions the dentist cannot see without the aid of this beneficial diagnostic tool. A full series of x-rays is an important tool to assist the doctor in diagnosing present and future problems.

-Can I come to your office with my insurance plan?

As long as your dental plan is a PPO, you are able to come to our office. The PPO’s allow you to go out of network and still receive a decent benefit. We do participate in the Delta Dental plans. If you are unsure what your benefit will be, you can call your insurance plan or our  office.
